It turned out to be a really enjoyable shoot, even with the rain.

March 2006

On March 18 2006, S.S.A.A. Mackay branch hosted a Lever Action Classic Calibre Match.  The
course of fire for this month was the 2006 National Lever Action Classic Postal Shoot, which will
also be used in this year's Nationals hosted by the Perth Lever Action Club in W.A.

Targets for the 35 round match included a bear and big rabbit at 100 metres (though these targets
seemed a lot smaller through the rifle sights), and a fox head, running fox, buffalo head, duck and
crow at 50 metres.  Various field positions and time limits were required, including a standing
unsupported position for 5 x 3 second exposures on a running fox target which brought out a lot of
rueful laughter.

A field of six shooters contested the event.  First place went to Sue Farr, followed by Jim Farr in
second and Peter Moore in third place.  Newcomer Adrian Younger filled fourth position, with David
Stubbs and Jarrod Younger rounding out fifth and sixth.  All shooters enjoyed the match.

The next Lever Action Match will take place on April 22nd, starting at 9 a.m.  Anyone with a Lever
Action Rifle collecting dust in their safe is welcome to come along and blow out the cobwebs.

Contact 4954 1661 for more information.
