  S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service Pistol competition on

Sunday 12-10-08 in overcast and windy conditions.

 25 shooters attended this match, including 2 Junior shooters.

     1st. place was claimed by Gil Young with a score of 347.13.  2nd. place went to

Errol Phillips with a score of 343.10, and 3rd. place went to George Crombie with a

score of 337.6.

     Michael Purkis and Rod Robinson both claimed their Bronze Proficiency awards,

and Matthew Thone claimed his Silver Proficiency award.

     The next - and last for 2008 - Military Pistol match will be held on Sunday 9th.

SEPTEMBER 2008

    S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military / Service Pistol competition on

Sunday 14-9-08 in perfect conditions. 22 shooters attended this last eligible match

for this year's National postal shoot,including one junior competitor.

     1st. place was claimed by Jim Fredericksen with a score of 338.9. 2nd. place was

claimed by Errol Phillips with a score of 332.5, and 3rd. place went to Bill Kennedy

with a score of 319.7.

AUGUST 2008

S.S.A.A  Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military / Service Pistol competition on Sunday

10-8-08 in fine, cool conditions.   18 competitors attended this match.

     First place was claimed by George Crombie,with his personal best score of 338.7.

A close 2nd. place went to Tony Watson,only 1 point behind with 337.9. Only 2 vee-bulls

behind in 3rd. place was Jeff Elliott,with his new Personal best score of 337.7.

     The next competition will be held on Sunday 14-9-08,which will be the last match

July 2008

 

   S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military / Service pistol competition on Sunday 13-7-08.

17 shooters attended this match,which was the first one eligible for the 2008 National postal shoot.

     Chris Reed won the day with a score of 334.10.    Jeff Elliott claimed 2nd. place with a score of

329.7, and Rod Muller was third with a score of 327.7.  Both Jeff and Rod achieved their personal

best scores for their efforts.

  JUNE 2008

S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service Pistol match on Sunday 8-6-08

in wet and windy conditions. 21 shooters attended this match,including 3 junior competitors.

     This match was the annual club championship / Woolfe Callan shield competition for 2008.

The winner claims the honour of keeping the Woolfe Callan shield for the next 12 months.

     The honour this year went to George Balias after a double count-back, with a score of 336.6.

Only 1 point behind was George Crombie with a score of 335.6,and only 1 point behind in 3rd. place

was Doug Purkis with a score of 334.9.  Cec McConnell shot his personal best score also.

     The next 3 monthly matches a re eligible for this year's National postal shoot.

MAY 2008

   S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service pistol competition on Sunday 11-5-08

( Mother's Day ) in fine conditions. 20 shooters attended this match,including 1 new and 1 junior

competitor.

     1st. place went to Tony Watson with a score of 330.7. George Balias claimed 2nd. with a score of

326.4, and new shooter Stephen Back was third with a score of 324.7.  Stephen also claimed his

Bronze proficiency award for his efforts.

     The July,August and September matches will be eligible for the 2008 National postal competition.

     The next match will be held ( in conjunction with the 2008 Blackpowder Open competition ) on Sunday

APRIL2008

  S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc.hosted a Military/Service pistol match on Sunday 13-4-08 in near perfect conditions.

28 competitors attended this match, including 2 junior shooters.

     First place was claimed by George Balias with a score of 341.8,closely followed in second place ( by only 1 point )

by Chris Reed with a score of 340.11. Chris's daughter Danielle Reed claimed third place with a score of 332.6.

      Bill Jewell and Robert Presley both claimed their Bronze proficiency awards for their efforts.

MARCH 2008

On Sunday 9-3-08 in near perfect conditions

S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service pistol Match. A record attendance of 33 shooters  competed in the last match

eligible for this year's State Postal competition.

     First place went to Errol Phillips with a score of 337.8.    Second place was claimed by George Balias

with a score of 328.6, closely followed by Danielle Reed with a score of 325.5.

Feb 2008

   S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted the first Military/Service Pistol competition for 2008

on Sunday 10-2-08 in very wet and humid conditions.

     23 shooters attended this match.  First place was claimed by Jim Fredericksen with a score of

339.8.  Second place went to Errol Phillips with a score of 332.8, and third place went to George Balias

with a score of 330.10.  Paul Rayner claimed his Bronze proficiency award , and Tony Baldry claimed his

Silver proficiency award.

    This match and next month's match are both eligible for this year's State Postal competition.

S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted the final Military/Service Pistol competition for 2007
on the Sunday afternoon of 11-11-07 in fine but windy conditions.
     19 shooters attended this match,including 2 junior competitors. 

1st. place went to Gil Young with a score of 352.16.  

2nd. place went to Jim Fredericksen with a score of  337.14, 

  3rd. place was claimed by Jeff Elliott with a score of 324.5.

     Hayley Pace earned her Bronze Proficiency award for her efforts,

Heather Dalliwall claimed her Silver Proficiency award as well.

OCTOBER 2007

S.S.A.A. Mackay branch hosted a Military/Service pistol match on Sunday 14-10-07 in fine but very windy conditions. 

22 competitors attended, including 2 junior shooters.

     First place was claimed by Jim Fredericksen with a score of 341.8.

2nd. place went to Richard Thone with 337.6,

 Doug Purkis was 3rd. with 332.10.

     Jim will advance to Master grade on his next attendance.

     The next match will be on Sunday 11-11-07. This will be the last competition for 2007. 

 

SEPTEMBER

   S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service pistol competition on Sunday 16-9-07.

21 shooters attended in perfect conditions, including 3 new competitors-1 of which was a junior female.

     1st. place went to Gil Young with a score of 350.13. In 2nd. position was Tony Watson with a score of

342.5 , and Errol Phillips claimed 3rd. place with a score of 339.10.

     Tony Baldry and Graeme Thornton both claimed their Bronze proficiency awards, and junior shooter

Megan Phillips claimed her Junior proficiency award in her first ever match.

AUGUST 2007

S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service pistol competition on Sunday 12-8-07

in fine and windy conditions.  22 competitors attended this match,including one female shooter.

     1st. place was claimed by Richard Thone with a score of 336.11. only 2 points away in 2nd. place was

Danielle Reed with a score of 334.6,and a close 3rd. went to Jim Fredericksen with a score of 331.4.

     This month and next month's competitions are eligible for the 2007 National postal shoot.

     The next match will be held on Sunday 16th. September. 

 

 

JULY 2007

  S.S.A.A. Mackay branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service Pistol competition on Sunday

8-7-07 in cool and fine conditions.A record 29 shooters attended this match,including 4

female competitors.

     First place was claimed by Gil Young with a score of 344.12.Second place went to Steve

Bedford with a score of 341.16, and third place went to George Crombie with a score of 331.5.

Steve claimed his Silver proficiency award for his efforts,and Daryl Wright claimed his Bronze

proficiency award.

     This was the first match eligible for this year's National postal shoot. The next 2 months are

also eligible for this competition.

 

June 2007

S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service pistol competition on Sunday 10-6-07.

 24 competitors attended this match in fine and sunny conditions.

     This match was the annual Woolfe Callan shield/club championship shoot for 2007. The best

score of the day entitles the shooter to hold the shield for the next 12 months.

     Tony Watson claimed the honour again with a score of 335.5. In 2nd. place was Jeff Elliott

with a score of 317.4,and Bill Kennedy claimed third place with a score of 316.6.

     Earlier this year,we contested the State postal competition. We managed to claim 3 medals

and certificates this year. They were: Class 2 pistol - 'A' Grade: 3rd. place went to Danielle Reed,

Class 2 Pistol - 'B'Grade: 1st. place went to Peter Wright,and 3rd. place went to Rod Muller.

     The next 3 months matches will be eligible for contention in this years National Postal shoot.

Any class 1 or 2 pistol can contest this match.

MAY 2007

  S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. held a Military/Service Pistol match on Sunday 13-5-07  ( Mother's Day) in wet and windy conditions. 

17 competitors braved the poor weather,with some good scores still being achieved.

     1st. place went to Gil Young with a score of 347.14.  2nd.place was claimed by new shooter

 Steven Bedford with a score of 342.7, and Tony Watson claimed 3rd. place with a score of 334.5.

    S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service pistol match on 15-4-07 .26 shooters attended this

 match in wet and windy conditions.

     1st. place went to Michael Anastasi with a score of 352.18.   2nd.place went to Richard Thone with 341.12,

and 3rd. went to Simon Bourke with 337.13.

     In the recent Qld. Postal shoot competition, Mackay branch entered 24 competitors.

MARCH 2007

S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service Pistol match on Sunday 11-3-07.This match
was capably officiated by Ted and Howard in the absence of the usual shoot captain.
     27 competitors attended this match. First place went to Gil Young with a score of 342.13. Second
position was claimed by Peter Wright with a score of 340.7,and Tony Watson claimed third with a score
of 331.3. George Adams claimed his Bronze proficiency award for his effort.Peter Wright achieved his
personal best score,and claimed his Gold proficiency award for his efforts.
     This was the last match eligible for this year's State Postal shoot.

FEBRUARY 2007

  S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. held the first Military/Service pistol competition for 2007 on Sunday 11-2-07

in very hot conditions. 25 competitors attended this match.

     First place was claimed by Danielle Reed,with her Personal best score of 342.2. Second place went to

Tony Watson with a score of 336.8, and 3rd.place went to George Crombie with a score of 330.8.  

 Danielle claimed her Gold proficiency award for her efforts.

     February and March  matches are eligible for this year's Qld. State postal competition.

NOVEMBER 2006

    S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch held a Military/Service pistol match on Sunday 12-6-06. The largest

attendance since September 2004 competed-a total of 28 shooters. This included 4 female and 2

junior competitors.

     First place went to Richard Thone with a score of 340.19,closely followed by Chris Reed with a score

of 340.6. Third place went to Peter Wright,with his P.B. score of 338.12. Peter claimed his Silver

proficiency for his efforts. Other awards claimed on the day were: Junior shooter Daniel Thone claimed

his Junior proficiency, his older brother Matthew Thone (another Junior shooter) claimed his Bronze

proficiency, and Heather Dalliwall claimed her Bronze proficiency award.

     The next match will not be until February 2007.

 

 

OCTOBER 2006

    S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. held a Military/Service pistol competition on Sunday 8th. October. 20 shooters attended this match in fine conditions, including 2 new Junior competitors.

     First place was claimed by Tony Watson ( again) with a score of 349.13. Jim Fredericksen claimed 2nd. place with a score of 341.5, and Howard Zelenka claimed 3rd. place with a score of 330.13.

     The final match for 2006 will be held on Sunday 12th. November.

    S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. hosted a Military/Service Pistol match on Sunday 10-9-06 in fine but windy conditions.

19 competitors attended,including 1 female shooter.

     1st. place was claimed by Peter Clout with a score of 340.7.    A close 2nd. went to Tony Watson with a score of

338.13, and Errol Phillips claimed 3rd. place with a score of 330.6. Peter's score was a Gold Proficiency award score,

but because he had not claimed his Silver Proficiency at this time,he has to claim Silver first.

     This was the last match eligible for this year's National postal shoot.

AUGUST 2006

  S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch Inc. held a Service/Military Pistol competition on Sunday 13-8-06 in fine but

windy conditions. 

16 shooters attended this match,including 1 lady competitor.

   First place was claimed by Tony Watson with a score of 350.10 ( out of a possible score of 360.36 ).

Second place went to Jim Fredericksen with a score of 341.13, 

and Doug Purkis claimed third place with a score of 327.8. 

Jim also claimed his Gold Proficiency award for his efforts.

     Don't forget next month's shoot will be the last match eligible for contention in this year's National postal shoot.

windy conditions. 19 competitors attended this match, including 1 female Junior and her older sister.

     1st. place went to Gil Young with a score of 344.14. 2nd. place went to Jim Fredericksen with a

score of 339.6, and Doug Purkis just claimed 3rd. place with a score of 332.10 .

     Last month was the local club championship. Tony Watson won this day's competition, and now

has the honour of holding the "Woolfe Callan Shield" until June 2007.

     The August and September matches are in contention for this year's National postal shoot.

JUNE 2006

  S.S.A.A. Mackay Branch hosted a Military/Service pistol match on Sunday 11-6-06

in overcast and windy conditions.

     17 shooters attended this match, including 1 new female competitor. Tony Watson won

the day again, this time with a score of 335.10. Second place went to Errol Phillips with a score

of 332.6,and Ted Dey claimed third place with a score of 324.2.

     The Mackay branch claimed three places in the recent Qld. State Postal shoot.  In the Class 1

Pistol section,Junior shooter Jessica Reed claimed 2nd. place in the Junior category. 

 Errol Phillips claimed third place in the"A " grade category.   

In the Class 2 pistol section, Matthew Thone claimed second place in the Junior category.  

All 3 shooters received Certificates and Medals for their efforts.

     The next 3 monthly competitions will be eligible for this year's National Postal shoot.

The highest/best score for each shooter will be sent away for contention in this postal shoot.

     21 shooters attended this match,including 1 lady and 2 new shooters to this comp.

was Neal Davies. Third place was claimed by Jim Fredericksen with a score of 336.9 .

Tony shot his Personal Best score, and claimed his Gold proficiency award for his efforts.

14-5-06 in fine and windy conditions.

     21 shooters attended this match,including 1 lady and 2 new shooters to this comp.

was Neal Davies. Third place was claimed by Jim Fredericksen with a score of 336.9 .

Tony shot his Personal Best score, and claimed his Gold proficiency award for his efforts.

March 2006

 

     S.S.A.A. Mackay hosted a Military/Service Pistol match on Sunday 12-3-06 in windy conditions.

23 competitors attended this match,including 1 lady and 2 junior shooters.

     First place was claimed by Richard Thone with a score of 340.11. 

 Second place went to Jim Fredericksen with a score of 335.7.  

Third place went to Errol Phillips with a score of 331.7.

     Junior shooter Matthew Thone claimed his Junior Proficiency award for his efforts.

NOVEMBER 2005

  S.S.A.A. Mackay hosted the final Military/Service Pistol match for 2005 on

Sunday 13-11-05. Ted Dey officiated this match,as the regular R/O was away.

     14 competitors attended this match,including the Reed father- and- 2- daughter combination again. 

First place went to Tony Watson,with a score of 339.13. 

A close second place was Simon Bourke,with a score of 337.9. 

Third place was claimed by Chris Reed with a score of 334.8.   

Simon claimed his Silver proficiency award for his efforts.

     The next match will not be held until February 2006.

    S.S.A.A. Mackay hosted a Service/Military Pistol competition on Sunday 9-10-05.
Weather conditions were very hot and windy.
     15 shooters attended this match. Once again,Neal Davies won the day with a score of 346.9. A close second place went to Gil Young,with a score of 343.14. Jim Fredericksen claimed third place with a score of 334.5.
     Jim also claimed his Silver proficiency award for his efforts.
     Please note that all future matches will commence at 1.00  P.M.,not 1.30 P.M. as previously contested.
